Hello all,
Thank you for your keen attention this afternoon, another great class.
I really enjoyed your approaches to the task at hand today.
Here is the second talk (a little shorter) I would like you all to analyse before next Monday's class.
The link is seen here: Why thinking you're ugly is bad for you Meaghan Ramsey - YouTube
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this one.
See you next Monday, and well done again.
Mark
Hi mark, great class today! I found it very efficient getting to hear other peoples opinions on the ted talk. It opened my mind to certain points that I didn’t even pick up on eg Scott’s indication of the time overlaps.
ReplyDeleteEvening Maegan, this is a tremendous piece of feedback, thank you. I have to say, although we only had just over half the class in today, the level of analysis was very good and I'm glad I mixed the teams up, with your help! I was always pushing to ensure everybody knew that a) all answers are valid in the main with justification (quotes), b) everybody has an equal voice, c) there are many ways in which to analyse and evaluate a text and d) to be bold with your answers, defend them. With a bit of teasing and prompting from me, I thought every single attendee did a brilliant job today across all five question points. Sessions like these make learning fun, a little uncomfortable at times but hugely beneficial in the long run. I was exhausted afterwards, but in an incredibly satisfied way I should add. Thank you for your words and taking time out to write them. You will note that next week's presenter has yet another derivation of your name. Linguistics is ace! Cheers, Mark
DeleteReally enjoyed Mondays class. Always great interacting with everyone and appreciating everyone's opinions and language techniques. Looking forward to this week's class again. Very helpful using the learning material as a guide line. Gives me more confidence for the listening assessment.
ReplyDeleteSorry forgot to put my name. Its Sam! 👋
DeleteMorning Sam, some great comments again, thank you. I think you have hit a great word there, appreciating. Agreed. I always think this is the best way to ensure everybody is aware of what to expect for the actual assessment. The second example is a very different pace and sure to yield several different readings of her 'text'. I look forward to tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1.40. I hope you had nice weekend. All the best, Mark
