Hello all,
Well done to all the presenters who were successful this afternoon with their oral presentations.
Six talks, six passes - very well done to Abbygail, Abbey, Illia, Maegan, Renee and Chris
The subjects were varied and interesting - Artemis - the next moon landing, How reading affects our brains, Climate change, Renewable energy, Adie Syndrome and Artificial Intelligence - how it is changing the world.
I thoroughly enjoyed the talks again, just like last week for pretty much the same reasons; your input, your research, your enthusiasm and more, excellent. We even had a cheeky wee 'kahoot quiz' to consolidate our learning. Nice one, Abbey.
For those of you who were at the session today, I would like you to comment on how you felt the session went this afternoon:
- did it go as well as you had planned?
- what did you do well?
- could you have done better?
- did you learn something about yourself and your peers?
- what did you think about the feedback etc.?
I really enjoyed everyone's presentations yesterday. I was a bit nervous about giving my talk beforehand as I'd never really delivered a presentation before, but you all made it very easy going and actually quite enjoyable. The talks on climate change were very informative, I especially liked the part about the benefits of solar panel use, even in Scotland. The feedback portion of the class was great also, very constructive. Thanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, these are great reflective comments and you did a very good job indeed. For me to write and note in my feedback that you had 'perfect pace' is really quite something. Well done. I am delighted that you actually enjoyed the experience; I can't ask for much more than that. Deep research, sensible structuring and engagement was very good across all the twelve presentations. Well done and see you after the break. Mark
ReplyDeleteYesterday's class was much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I felt my talk went as smoothly as possible considering my nerves beforehand, and I partly think this is down to me going first. I was glad that my nerves wore off quickly afterwards so I could enjoy listening to everyone else and learn some new things. In particular I was looking forward to hearing Abbygail's talk as I was already interested in the topic but didn't know too much about it, and she didn't disappoint.
ReplyDeleteFYI It's Abbey, I didn't mean to post anonymously.
DeleteIdeal Abbey, some great commentary there. You did a great job and I loved the kahoot quiz. Illia was the winner, we should note that result for the records! Trust your ability, Abbey. You put a lot of work into this assessment, you really delivered, and I thought the consolidation of learning afterwards really augmented your great research and knowledge. Very well done. I thought I would comment as anon. too, just for fun! Have a great break and see you on Monday 24th October, usual time and venue. Mark
DeleteGreat namecheck for Abbygail too. I'm sure she will appreciate that. Mark
DeleteWell done to Chris for winning the kahoot quiz. Quite rightly, he noted everybody was a winner!
DeleteYesterday was surprising for me, truthfully, I didn't expect to do so well but I'm proud of myself for staggering through the nerves and to even get commented on good posture was a funny little accolade. I thoroughly enjoyed delving into the subjects of my peers, most of which I knew very little about! I definitely learned an abundance and also, I was fascinated in retrospect of their perspectives on their subjects. A real bonding experience.
ReplyDeletecheers again!
Evening Maegan, I think you should be proud of your delivery. I'm glad you have written that. The posture comment was accurate, trust me! Ha. I too enjoyed how all members of the session broke down their respective topics in a formal and structured manner. I concur about the collegiate feel to the afternoon too. Who knew that learning and assessment could be such fun? #me! Thank you, some great commentary here. All the best, well done and have a lovely break. Mark
DeleteI really enjoyed yesterdays class. Hearing everyone else’s presentations was really interesting and I learned a few things. I was really nervous before and during my talk but I thought I done pretty well and I need to remember next time to avoid my sneaky “okey dokey” 😂
ReplyDeleteEvening Abbygail, thank you for taking the time to post your reflective thoughts, very good they are too. It is definitely OK to feel nerves, it shows you care and even better, we didn't notice the nerves, so a job well done. You do love an "okey dokey", but that's OK! That made me giggle. Well done, enjoy your extended holiday (no jealousy here, much...!) Have a blast and see you when you return. Don't forget to write! All the best, Mark
DeleteI know it's too late. I have just remembered I didn't add feedback. This presentation was really important for me. I was getting ready for it for a 2 weeks. I think I did my best and got such a beautiful experience. You must always believe in yourself and everything will be good. Every presentation was interesting, I enjoyed it. I always glad to watch performances of others and analyse it to improve my future presentations. Thank you !
ReplyDeleteHello, never too late to put some feedback into the blog, thank you for taking the time to. Analysis is very much what we are doing, and I think you coming in the week before was a very good idea indeed. Belief is incredibly important as is planning. You did a very good job and I thought your talk on renewables was excellent, well done. Improvements and using these skills and listening to the constructive self, peer and assessor feedback is key. Congrats. on an excellent piece of research and delivery. All the best, Mark
DeleteI hope it’s not too late to comment…I enjoyed listening to others talks and learning about many new things. However presenting the talk I felt very anxious about it and not very confident at all. However I’m glad I done it as it’s increasing my confidence in talking. I’m also glad no one knew about my talk and I got to see everyone’s reaction to it!
ReplyDeleteEvening Renee, it is never too late to comment, thank you. Having increased confidence and the courage to articulate that is always music to my ears. Well done, and you are quite right to make that assertion about the audience learning something brand new. Take on board all the feedback and use that moving forward in the future. Well done and thank you for taking the time to pop some comments on. Have a great evening, Mark
