Hello all,
Today we looked at three moral dilemmas that I gave to you, defined what they are, and then you broke them all down offering possible answers to the scenarios posed to you.
I thought this part of the lesson was particularly effective personally, for lots of reasons.
So, a few questions.
1. How did you enjoy the moral dilemmas part of the class?
2. Listening to other groups were you persuaded to think differently?
3. What academic / communication skills were you using / developing today?
I look forward to your thoughts. As always, just be honest in your appraisal and anything goes!
Mark
Hi Mark!
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed today's class, it was a brilliant exercise. It was great to be put into groups and engage more with the rest of the class. I learned that not everyone thinks the same and someone else's right decision could be your wrong decision. Personally, I still stand by my decisions and outcomes but, i am happy to listen to those who think differently and the reasons why they would. I learned that overall we all think fairly and equally and that's something I feel strongly about. It was a great exercise to sit and listen to everyone and communicate with one another at such an early stage.
I look forward to using these skills within my presentation.
Brilliant Sam, thank you. These are wonderful comments. You have hit a lot of great points here in your precis, and there are many more skills that are developed in that session. I really enjoyed the way that the groups were critically thinking. I'm looking forward to hearing more comments from the rest of the class. See you next week. Mark
ReplyDeleteThanks for the interesting class. It was great to explore those topics and listen to everyone's ideas on some really tough questions. I'm still not sure exactly how I would react in some of those scenarios.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris, some wise words in there. Thank you. I quite like that you are still not 100% sure what your stance would be. That means you were listening, you are reflecting and the scenarios work. Group working, albeit in an unassessed way, certainly gets you all talking. Communication is the name of the game after all! Great stuff, see you Monday. Mark
DeleteHi mark, same as everyone with my gratitude for the great class! Really got my thinking cap on. Was interesting to see when people draw a line in the utilitarian view to find a balance in their own opinion, some of mines even changed! Cheers again
ReplyDeleteHi Maegan, without doubt the best and aptly framed use of the word 'utilitarian' I have seen in a while, excellent. And I particularly like the notion that you have perhaps changed your mind. I actually have quite a few of those moral dilemmas that I have created over the years and change the format of the exercise around all the time. Materials and the delivery of, should always be dynamic in my eyes. Great feedback, thank you, and see you on Monday at 2pm, for one week only! Mark
